“Quite extraordinary ear… you get the unusual sensation that Kaner-Lidström plays not just the piano, but the building itself.” – Australian Stage
“Known for his ability to play with a soft, controlled and expressive touch, producing a singing tone that captivates listeners.” – Hyperion Records

Leif Kaner-Lidströms style has been described as a cinematic odyssey of music, inspired at its roots by classical form and melody consisting of through-composed compositions, where folk-like harmony and soulful rhythm shine through a veil of intricate and technically challenging virtuosity.

Leif Kaner-Lidström is a composer and pianist from South East London. Born into a musical family, Leif began playing piano at 7 and wrote his first piece of music at 10. Since then his music has had the support of the likes of Elton John, Craig Charles, Gilles Peterson, Jamz Supernova, Moses Boyd and Soweto Kinch on National and International Radio.

He is known as a classical pianist, most recently through his album ‘Swans’ with his cellist father on Hyperion Records, and performing around the world with stars in that field such as Jess Gillam or Anne Sofie von Otter. On the other hand he goes by the alias Erik Sigurd, with a whole catalogue of solo piano music that has garnered millions of streams worldwide.

Leif is a member of the boundary-pushing Levitation Orchestra, known for exploring new frontiers in jazz through collective composition, with their third studio album releasing later this year on 5db Records. His debut vinyl under the pseudonym Eriksson Kaner, Ithaca, was a collaboration with Sacha Create, and feature luminaries such as Kaidi Akinnibi, James Akers, and Rudi Creswick, while his sophomore release “The Purpose” features James Mollison of Ezra Collective, and Alex Cosmo Blake. Both records have been released through the label he founded with prominent South London producer Mom Tudie, Lordship Loft Recordings.
